A web server is a computer program that stores data on a networked computer system. The data stored on the server is called content. Content includes files such as HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) documents, graphics, audio, video, and software applications. Websites are usually hosted on a web server.
There are three main types of web servers: Shared, Virtual private Server (VPS), and Dedicated.
Shared Hosting is when multiple websites share one set of hardware. You pay a monthly fee for access to the server, and each website gets its own space on the hard disk. If you use too much bandwidth, you will be charged extra.
VPS stands for virtual private server. This type of server provides a lot of flexibility and allows you to customize your own server. You can choose between Linux and Windows operating systems. If you need additional storage space, you can purchase extra hard drives.
Dedicated Server is a computer system that is specifically designed to host one website. It is usually more expensive than other hosting plans because it requires more technical expertise to set up and maintain. However, it offers greater security and performance than shared hosting.
